LEIPZIGER MARKT MUSIK

Exit the Classic Open. Since 2018, the public has been discovering the Leipziger Markt Musik festival instead. A name change that does not really affect the spirit of this annual popular musical event. On the set side, it's hard to do better since the main stage is located right next to the Markt, facing 1,400 seats. As for the programming, it is full of audacity. It lightly combines classical music concerts (Bach, Mendelssohn, Beethoven, Grieg, etc.) with international pop-rock classics. Great idea! The artists' interpretation is right, and the atmosphere is always beautiful. The new feature compared to the old formula is the screening of films dedicated to singers or musical groups. The first edition, for example, paid tribute to the work of the mythical The Doors, through the eponymous feature film by director Oliver Stone.
