CHAKOOH CANYON

The centre of Qeshm Island is full of canyons and breathtaking landscapes carved by erosion. Wind and rain have shaped the rocks to give the desert a lunar look. Chakooh Canyon is one of the most easily and quickly accessible from the main road. From the car park, the track plunges into a maze of rocks with increasingly narrow convoluted shapes. Even before reading about the action of erosion, the folds of the rocks, faults and sedimentary arrangements testify to the violence of the tectonic shocks that shaped the first scenery that the storm rains were later responsible for finalizing. In this magical setting, you could walk for a long time and let your imagination wander. Try to get there at the end of the day, when the heat is no longer so overwhelming.
