LAKE SUPERIOR MARITIME VISITOR CENTER

This museum features a variety of exhibits on the maritime history of Duluth and Lake Superior: shipwrecks, storms, lighthouses, Great Lakes canals, locks... It is located right next to the Airlift. It is the best place to see the huge freighters carrying their cargo of taconite, the sedimentary rock rich in particles of red and black iron oxide found in the iron mines near Duluth.
