MINNEHAHA FALLS
Minnehaha Falls became Minnesota's first regional park in 1885.
In 1885, the park became Minnesota's first regional park. Popular in summer for its concerts and trails, it is divided into two zones: a landscaped area above the falls, and a wilder area below. A bronze statue of Hiawatha and Minnehaha, characters inspired by Native American legends, stands on an island above the waterfall. The 16-metre-high waterfall gushes into the heart of the park before emptying into the Mississippi River, a breathtaking sight in any season.
