MINNEAPOLIS CITY HALL
Building to admire the massive rotunda that houses the work of Italian sculptor Larkin Goldsmith Mead, The Father of Waters.
Built between 1888 and 1906 by Long & Kees, this imposing granite building is another typical example of the Richardsonian Romanesque style. At the time, its clock faces (larger than Big Ben's!) were the largest in the world. Inside, you can admire a huge rotunda featuring a monumental marble statue: The Father of the Waters, the work of American sculptor Larkin Goldsmith Mead, in homage to the Mississippi. The building is still in use, but can be visited freely during the day.
