Urban cross-country skiing festival on the frozen surface of Lake Calhoun with ice sculpture, concerts and illuminations.
This event has been brightening up Minneapolis winters for over 20 years. Every year in early February, it attracts athletes and families for a weekend of urban cross-country skiing and outdoor activities: races, snowshoe hikes, snow sculptures... The event takes place in Theodore Wirth Park and around Lake Bde Maka Ska. The highlight is the Luminary Loppet, a magical evening around Lake of the Isles, illuminated by hundreds of lanterns, with music and hot chocolate. There's something to warm hearts even in the depths of winter!
