Romanesque observatory with a dome considered an important place in the development of modern astrophysics.

The Yerkes Observatory, inaugurated in 1897, is a magnificent Romanesque building, famous for housing the world's largest lens telescope. Fully reopened to visitors in 2022, it now offers guided tours, night sky observations and cultural and scientific events throughout the year. The observatory remains a major site in the history of astronomy, both for its architectural heritage and for its role in the development of modern astrophysics.
