Washington Island is an island community located about 5 miles off the northeastern tip of the Door Peninsula in Door County, Wisconsin. It is the only year-round island community in Door County. The island has a year-round population of around 783. To get to the island, you can take the Washington Island Ferry, located at the tip of the Door Peninsula. The crossing takes about 30 minutes. Once on the island, visitors can enjoy a wide range of activities, including visiting historic museums, exploring Schoolhouse Beach and hiking and biking. The island also offers magnificent scenery, including spectacular sunsets.
