The Oriental Theatre
This magnificent building houses a 1927 cinema, whose unique décor blends Indian, Islamic and Byzantine influences. The interior is adorned with Buddha statues, minarets, porcelain lions and hundreds of carved elephants. Since 2009, the theater has hosted the Milwaukee Film Festival with a selection of independent and international films. Managed by Milwaukee Film since 2018, it boasts a varied cultural program. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 2023, it is an example of a 1920s movie palace.
