This promenade in the heart of downtown Chicago runs along the Chicago River for 2 km to Lake Michigan. Construction began in 2001 and continued until 2016. It's very popular with Chicagoans, who flock to it on sunny days. When the weather's fine, people come here to stroll, enjoy its restaurants and rest areas, such as the River Theater, a flight of steps overlooking the river. The Riverwalk also offers privileged access to boats that take excursions on the river and lake.
