Perhaps less well known than Buddy Guy's or Andy's, Jazz Showcase remains a must for lovers of authentic jazz. Opened by the passionate Joe Segal in 1947, this intimate club in the South Loop is one of the city's oldest. It has played host to some of the greatest names in jazz, including Dizzy Gillespie and Count Basie, and continues to honor their legacy. Far from the tourist circuit, it offers top-quality concerts every evening in a hushed atmosphere true to the spirit of its founder.
