TOURISM THUNDER BAY

Thunder Bay is a city with a rich history. It is built on the traditional territory of the Anishinabek, which includes the Ojibwa of the Fort William First Nation, signatories to the Robinson-Superior Treaty of 1850. The city also recognizes the contributions of Métis peoples. Thunder Bay's history is told through various sections, tracing the first inhabitants, the fur trade, the towns of Port Arthur and Fort William, expansion and finally amalgamation. The town is also home to many local legends.
