Bellevue House National Historic Site, Kingston.
The home of John A. MacDonald (1815-1891), a lawyer with a brilliant career ahead of him, including a stint as Prime Minister of Canada. The house and gardens, animated by interpreters in period costume, have been restored to the taste of the 1840s, much as they were. Several guided tours are available to help visitors understand the house and the links between John A. Macdonald and Canadian history.
