BLOCKHOUSE OF THE RIVIÈRE-LACOLLE

This log building, a small defensive military structure built by the English in 1781 on the banks of the Lacolle River, a tributary of the Richelieu, was part of the high defence system against the new American republic. It is the only remaining military building of its kind in Quebec. It has been restored by the government to house an exhibition on the military history of this fort.
