Iqaluit ("place of many fish" in Inuktitut) is the capital of the territory of Nunavut and is located on southeastern Baffin Island in Frobisher Bay. The tides in this bay are the second highest in the country after the Bay of Fundy in Nova Scotia. Iqaluit is the largest and fastest growing city in the territory. It is home to the airport, the Nunavut Visitor Centre, federal, territorial and municipal government offices, accommodation and restaurants, the regional hospital, the Nunavut Arts and Crafts Association, the Association des francophones du Nunavut, etc.
