CYPRESS PROVINCIAL PARK
A park with a remarkable old-growth forest in the heart of Cypress Mountain, an address for hiking in summer and skiing in winter.
Bordered on the west by Howe Sound, on the north and east by the ridges of Mount Strachan and Hollyburn, and on the south by West Vancouver, this park of over 3,000 ha offers a wide range of activities, including hiking, camping and cycling. Planted with red and yellow cedars, it's home to many species of wildlife. A (breathless) hike leads to Strachan Meadows, where the view of Bowen Island and Howe Sound is breathtaking. The park, 25 minutes from Vancouver, is open year-round. In winter, the park is popular for skiing. The Cypress Mountains hosted the 2010 Olympics for skiing.
