Inaugurated in 1919, the station is served by Via Rail (for Canada) and Amtrak (from the United States). It is also where buses leave for Whistler, Vancouver Island, Alberta and the United States. The "Canadian" travels east three times a week for 4,465 km to Toronto via Kamloops, Jasper, Edmonton, Saskatoon and Winnipeg. Count 3 days for the whole trip. The Amtrak Cascades train crosses the U.S. border to Seattle, Portland, and Eugene, Oregon.
