Mejillones has a history full of setbacks and twists and turns that give a very special character to this small fishing port where everything seems to follow the rhythm of the sun. It is a quiet stopover that can be experienced as a regenerating break. Not for very long, perhaps: indeed, there is a well-defined project to build in this bay the most important port of all South America. However the project seems to be taking time: a report published in 2020 planned first to develop the infrastructures of the region.
