This beautiful monumental Baroque church was inaugurated in 1915 on the highest point of the city of Puerto Varas.
The church of the "Sacred Heart of Jesus" was built on the highest point of the city. The view from this church projects you at once into Bavaria: this is indeed the region that inspired the construction of this beautiful church. Giant lego, sky blue and white, looking as if it had been artificially planted in the middle of the city, the parish church was inaugurated in 1915. It is a monumental baroque copy of the German church of Marienkirche in the Black Forest.

C´est l´église emblématique de Puerto Varas. L´extérieur a un peu perdu de sa fraicheur mais reste bien typique. L´intérieur vaut aussi le coup d´œil si l´on accepte de gravir la pente et les escaliers : belle harmonie du volume et des teintes, majoritairement bleu et blanc, qui se marie bien avec le cœur boisé. Quelques statues intéressantes dont une résurrection assez curieuse. Surtout, elle rassemble une communauté relativement jeune qui m´a paru bien sympathique.
