Located opposite Plaza Ñuñoa, this university theater is one of Chile's most important theaters. Nicknamed the Teatro UC, it celebrates its 80th anniversary in 2023 and has gone by many different names since its creation. It has two theaters (first and second floor) and welcomes no fewer than 40,000 visitors every year. Visitors can enjoy classical and contemporary works performed by a team of professional actors.

But above all, cueca: once neglected by the younger generations, cueca, Chile's national dance, is now back in the spotlight. An energetic and sensual dance that will set the dance floor on fire! "El Comercio" as the regulars call it, is one of those typical and cheap Chilean places where you can come and listen to South American music. If you like the cueca, the traditional Chilean dance of the huasos, it is the ideal place to sway to the rhythm of the different groups that animate the evenings. They also dance cumbia and salsa. Go there on weekends to enjoy a good atmosphere. Local dishes and good wine are served on site.

Club Matadero is a cultural and social center located in Santiago de Chile. It is dedicated to the preservation, development and dissemination of Chilean popular culture and heritage. The club regularly stages shows and concerts featuring traditional Chilean music such as cueca, as well as more contemporary musical genres such as cumbia. Local and international artists take to the stage to delight audiences.

Opened in 2010, this cultural centre offers many shows, from dance to theatre and visual arts. Beyond the program that is offered, you can enjoy the vast bookstore and the quality temporary exhibitions. There is also a cafeteria, a museum of American folk art and a wine library. Guided tours are available free of charge. An excellent place to get acquainted with Chilean and South American culture.

Located in the bohemian neighborhood of Bellavista, on the way to La Chascona, this pretty little theater is a good landmark if you want to experience Chilean culture. Founded by Chilean actors Gonzalo Valenzuela and Benjamin Vicuña, the theatre hosts a wide range of styles and plays. There are also exhibitions and performances on very current topics such as feminism, sexual freedom, terrorism, etc. The theatre now has three cultural spaces around Santiago.

Inaugurated in 1949, this theatre almost closed its doors at the end of the 2000s. It was bought by a group of individuals, sponsored by the Nescafé brand. Named Marconi and then Providencia, it has hosted major rock concerts, film festivals and classical operas in the past. Today, you can attend a Romeo and Juliet play, discover the country's latest female rappers or admire the country's greatest pianists.
