The Dhobi Ghat is a huge open-air laundry located near the Mahalaxmi station. It is one of the most photographed sights of the city. Here are washed by hand linen, sheets and clothes of hotels and hospitals of Mumbai. Built in 1890, the place is made of concrete basins, each one equipped with its stone where the washers hit the textiles. The spectacle is striking! A guide will probably offer you a tour of the place and show you the different places. It is up to you to negotiate the price before the visit.
