THE ROYAL OPERA HOUSE MUMBAI

Close to Girgaon Chowpatty, this is the country's only opera house still in operation. Built in 1912, it was originally devoted entirely to operas, and then began programming films when the first talkies appeared on the Indian scene in the 1930s. The theatre was closed for over thirty years before being completely restored and renovated in the early 2000s. Today, it programs over 200 shows a year: films, concerts, plays, dance performances, readings...
