Beautiful palace resembling the Château de Versailles and combining French and Indian styles, home to today's Sainik School
The magnificent palace of Jagatjit looks strangely like the Palace of Versailles. In fact, Jagatit Singh, the last maharaja of Kaputhala, had the palace built by a French architect who was largely inspired by the plans of Versailles and Rambouillet. It is a true fusion of French style, with notably its paintings on the ceilings, and Indian style, like the Durbar Hall which hosted some official ceremonies. The building now houses the Sainik School which trains students for the National Defense Academy.

Little corner of France to Punjab. The maharajah francophile Jagatjit Singh passionate required a French architect to build a palace him on the model of the château de Versailles. This striking building that was called " the palace Elysée" rise in the heart of beautiful gardens decorated with statues and stone fountains. This luxury hotel is worth the detour vaiment!
