It is undoubtedly the most charming temple of Ayodhya. In the Ramayana epic, Kaikeyi, one of the three wives of Dasarata, king of Ayodhya, and mother-in-law of Rama, wanted to offer a choice gift to Rama and Devi Sata to celebrate their marriage and to show that she was as legitimate as Rama's mother. So she gave this palace to Devi Sita. Nowadays, this temple is one of the most sacred in India. The shrine (garbhgirh) of the temple houses beautiful idols of Devi Sita and Ra with his three brothers.
