DIU FORT
Dating from 1541, this fort houses a prison, bastions along the seafront and a former chapel used as an arsenal.
It's impossible to pass through Diu without visiting this vestige of the Portuguese colonial era. Built in 1541 and still under renovation at the beginning of 2025, this fort transports visitors to an even more distant past, so lacking in maintenance. The visit is short but pleasant. The first part of the fort houses a prison. You then reach the bastions that run along the sea. The fort also houses an old chapel, once used as an arsenal. A visit to the fort is a pleasant stroll through old stones, wild grasses and sea spray.
