SETH BHANDASAR JAIN TEMPLE
Jain temple, one of the few with murals depicting the lives of holy men, processions or court scenes
At the end of the 15th century, Bhandasar Oswal, a wealthy Jain merchant, ordered the construction of this temple, which was later embellished by donations from devotees. Forty tons of ghee are said to have been used for the foundations. It is one of the few Jain temples to feature murals depicting the lives of tirthankars (holy men), processions or court scenes. The central shrine houses a statue of the fifth tirthankar, Sumtinath. Donations welcome.
