JAG MANDIR
Palace built on an islet designed to host majestic parties and receptions and converted into a small 7-room hotel
Built on an islet in the 17th century by the maharana Karan Singh, this was the first palace of its kind. It was designed to host majestic parties and receptions. Later, it served as a refuge for the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan during a dispute with his father in the 17th century. Legend has it that Shah Jahan drew inspiration from Jagmandir to build the Taj Mahal. On the island, you'll see stone-cut elephants and a grey stone chhatri (parasol). The palace has been converted into a small 7-room hotel, open to the public.
