Impressive wells dug right down to the water table, with or without sculpted pillars, statues or arches...
The town is dotted with baoris, or wells of impressive size, dug right down to the water table. The most beautiful is the Raniji ki Baori, 46 meters deep. It is adorned with sculpted pillars representing the different reincarnations of Vishnu. The Bhavaldi Baori is equally impressive. At the bottom of the steps, you pass through an arch supported by two majestic elephants. On either side of the well are two beautiful statues of Vishnu and Brahma. If the gate is closed, don't hesitate to knock on the house opposite.
