Paintings and sculptures in a remarkable gallery, one of the oldest in Essaouira, installed near the Bab Sbaâ gate.
Close to the Bab Sbaâ gate, Espace Othello is one of the city's oldest galleries. It features naïve and contemporary paintings, most of them African, as well as calligraphy and sculptures inspired by local culture, by Moroccan and foreign artists. A place of exchange for all, it also hosts the Essaouira Free Artists training course. A peek under the stone vault won't commit you to anything, except perhaps to find a little original gift to take home in your suitcases.
