BANC DE LA LIBERTE
Remarkable benches in Essaouira, sculpted in the form of books, a tribute to the aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
Le Banc de la liberté, késako? It's one of the 3 benches in Morocco that mark the stopover towns visited by aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Saint-Exupéry came to Tarfaya in 1927 to take command of the Cap Juby airfield. These benches are a tribute to the man of letters, and were installed to celebrate the 90th anniversary of his visit. Sculpted in the form of a book to open up to oneself and, above all, to others, they feature a QR code that can be scanned to access literary content. To sit down, head for the corniche.
