Near the Fezna oasis, a celestial staircase, a golden spiral and the city of Orion stand in the middle of the desert on the Marha plain
Hannsjoerg Voth, a German artist born in 1940, began work on theEscalier céleste in 1980, the Spirale d'or in 1993 and the Cité d'Orion in 1998. These three gigantic sculptures stand in the middle of the desert on the Marha plain, near the Fezna oasis. It's impossible to give an accurate idea of the impression left by his works, which are both mad and ingenious. Access is rather difficult, so it's best to get there by 4x4 or motorcycle.
