It has long been the only analytical laboratory in Tangiers. Founded in 1912, it was piloted in the 1950 s by the Remlinger radiologist, student of Pasteur. Initially, the Institute exported rabies vaccines to Gibraltar and Egypt, and then had to close its doors in the 1980 s before being transformed by the Moroccan Ministry of Public Health into the transfusion centre. Thanks to new funding from the Italian state, it should soon resume its initial function.
