Fifty kilometers from Maroua, after the small town of Bogo with its uninteresting market and chieftaincy, you come to Guirvidig. In this village in the commune of Maga, Mayo-Danay department, you'll come across both modern buildings and very typical structures, notably a group of five huts surrounded by a palisade and with a granary in the middle. Guirvidig is best known in the Far North for growing sorghum, a cereal similar to millet, and for its large fish market, held every Saturday.
