In the heart of Foulbé country, the lamidat of Rey Bouba was built during the reign of Bouba Ndjida between 1805 and 1808. He came from Mali with his Peul warriors and settled on the banks of the Mayo-Rey river. It is said that he deposited a white standard, a silver drum, a sword and a basket containing royal secrets. This lamidat, located some 170 km from Garoua and extremely difficult to access, is well worth a detour in a 4x4 vehicle. Along the way, you'll admire some beautiful traditional huts and the Lamido's palace. Before making the journey, it is advisable to write to the Lamidat to request an audience.
