It is one of the oldest protected areas in Cameroon. Created in 1968, it was recognized as a biosphere reserve by UNESCO in the early 1980 s. In this 180 000 acre tree savanna, there are hippos, warthogs, Derby elk, monkeys and important bird populations, including youyous parrots. For hunting fans, as for tourists wishing to stay for some time in the park, there are three camps, such as that of the Black Buffalo. The comfort is modest but the warm welcome, and experienced guides can take you into the bush and track the animals of the park.
