Vijećnica u Brčkom
Moorish Revival-style building on a small square renamed in honor of American diplomat Roberts Bishop Owen.
The Town Hall (Vijećnica u Brčkom/Вијећница у Брчкому) has been Brčko's landmark building since 1892. Located just south of the Save bridge, its neo-Moorish style evokes Sarajevo's Vijećnica. And with good reason: it was designed by the same architects Wittek and Iveković. Renovated in 2010, it houses the district government and an art gallery. Entrance is via the square named in honor of American diplomat Roberts B. Owen (1926-2016), who enabled the creation of the Brčko district in 2000. Next door, the beautiful Hotel Posavina (1891) has been closed since 2018.
