Solni Trg
A place marked by underground salt mining: by its name and... by its collapse in 1997. Home to the tourist office.
This square (Solni Trg) is located in the old town, 100 m south-east of Place des Victimes-du-Génocide-de-Srebrenica. The square's name, but also its architecture, is a reminder of underground salt mining: in 1997, the galleries dug beneath the town caused the square to collapse, and it is now surrounded by unattractive buildings. Another scar of history, 50 m to the northeast: on Kapija square, a plaque marks the site of the "Tuzla massacre": 71 inhabitants killed by a Bosnian-Serb bombardment on May 25, 1995.
