Trg Žrtava Genocida u Srebrenici
Pretty little square: mosque, fountain, colorful facades... Monthly gathering in memory of the victims of 1995 in Srebrenica.
This pretty little square (Trg Žrtava Genocida u Srebrenici) lies just east of the vast Freedom Square and marks the entrance to Stari Grad, the old town. It is dominated by the Čaršijska mosque, rebuilt in 1874. In the center stands the mosque fountain (šadrvan), destroyed in 1945 and rebuilt in 1997. With its colorful facades and terraces, the square is a pleasant place to gather on the 11th of each month in memory of the victims of the 1995 Srebrenica massacre.
