Jezero Modrac
17 km² artificial lake created in 1964. Swimming not recommended. Western part: hotels, restaurants and industrial cable car.
This 17 km² artificial lake (Jezero Modrac) lies 17 km southwest of Tuzla. It was created in 1964 with the construction of a hydroelectric dam on the Spreča river to the north. The lake was closed to the public in 2005 due to pollution, and is now once again used for fishing (carp, pike, etc.), but swimming is still not recommended. The western part is the most developed (restaurants and hotels). This is also where an 11 km-long cableway runs to transport limestone from Vijenac in the south to the Lukavac cement plant on the outskirts of Tuzla.
