MOSQUÉE TURALI-BEY
Tuzla's oldest Islamic building ( century). Partially rebuilt in 2007 with a strange conical roof.
This mosque (Turali-Bey) is 550 m southeast of Liberty Square. It is the oldest Islamic building in Tuzla. Also known as the Poljska ("plain") mosque, it was built between 1548 and 1572 on the initiative of the founder of today's city, Gazi Turali bey. Due to subsidence caused by an underground salt mine, it had to be partially rebuilt in 2007 with a strange conical roof. The mosque runs alongside the korzo, the Turali-Bey promenade, which links Stari Grad (the old town) with the modern city to the east.
