MOSQUÉE DŽINDIĆ
Small mosque founded around 1590, not open to the public.
Located just north of the Pannonian lakes, this small mosque (Džindijska Džamija) was founded around 1590 by Mustafa Džindić, son of Gazi Turali-bey, Tuzla's first Ottoman governor in 1563. It was restored by his cousin Husein Čauš in the 17th century and is also known as Husein Čauševa Džamija. It was the center of the Džindić district, which partly disappeared due to the collapse of the salt mines. Built of wood and adobe, the building forms a square with 7 m sides and a very simple interior pierced by sixteen windows.
