CATHEDRAL OF THE DORMITION OF THE MOTHER OF GOD
Serbian Orthodox cathedral built in neoclassical style in 1882. However, restoration work stripped it of all its charm in 2009.
This Serbian Orthodox cathedral (Hram Uspenja Presvete Bogorodice/Саборни Храм Успења Пресвете Богородице) lies 400 m east of Salt Square via the municipal park, opposite the Pannonian lakes. Built in neoclassical style in 1882, it survived the wars, but a restoration in 2009 stripped it of its lustre. It is the seat of the Eparchy of Zvornik-Tuzla. Since 1992, however, the metropolitan has been based in Bijeljina. Inside, a richly carved wooden iconostasis (1910).
