This industrial brewery (Banjalučka Pivara/Бањалучка Пивара) is located on the banks of the Vrbas River, near St. Mary of the Star Abbey (5 km northeast of the city center). It was founded by Trappist monks in 1873, nationalized in 1946, privatized in 1991 and is now the country's second-largest beer producer, after the Sarajevo Brewery. You can visit the brewery by appointment, where you'll find a production line, a small historical museum and a tasting session. Nektar, Banjalučko, Crni Đorđe, Baraba and Kastel beers are produced here.
