Safikadin Grob
A place of devotion associated with the legend of Safikaduna, frequented since the century by Christian and Muslim inhabitants.
This place of devotion (Safikadin Grob/Сафикадин Гроб) is located in the narrow street connecting the Ferhadija mosque to the Kastel. According to tradition, this is where Ferhat Pasha Sokolović's granddaughter rests. The "tomb", installed in 1987 and painted white, is marked by black plaques narrating the legend: after the death of her Austrian lover, Safikaduna is said to have committed suicide by standing in front of a fortress cannon fired every day at noon. Since the 18th century, inhabitants of all faiths have come here to lay a candle in the hope of finding love.
