FORTERESSE DE SREBRENICA

Only ruins of this fortress (Tvrđava Srebrenica/Тврдава Сребреница) remain. Erected in the 12th century, it had a tumultuous life before being destroyed in 1686 by the Ottomans to avoid falling into the hands of the Austrians. The site offers an interesting point of view on the city center, more beautiful seen from above. Below, along the road leading to Skelani, is the small Catholic church of Saint Mary (1985). It is located on the site of a former Franciscan monastery of the 14th century, destroyed at the same time as the fortress.
