Ada
A pleasant stroll between two arms of the Bregava River, near Stolac town center. Remains of Ottoman houses.
This island (Ada) is formed by two arms of the Bregava River, 250 m west of the clock tower. It extends from the Kupaje open-air swimming pool (northeast) to the Podgradska mosque (southwest), some 400 m long and 70 m wide on average. This was the residence of the city's Muslim elite during the Ottoman period. Sadly, most of the beautiful houses were destroyed by Bosnian-Croat forces in 1993. Drowned in greenery, the island is nonetheless one of the locals' favorite summer strolling spots.
