Podgradska Džamija
In the center of Stolac, a recent replica of a beautiful 1813 mosque destroyed in 1993. The arcades once housed stores.
The "mosque under the town" (Podgradska Džamija) owes its name to its location, under the former upper town of the fortress. It lies along the main road, 600 m southwest of the clock tower. It is the 2010 replica of the former mosque destroyed in 1993. Erected in 1813, it housed stores under its ground-floor arcades. The building, with its almost square base (9.4 x 9.7 m), is rather high (around 8.5 m) and its minaret seems small (12 m). Nearby, the Podgradska Bridge (26.50 m long) dates from the 18th century.
