Careva Džamija
Ottoman mosque dating from 1520, remodeled in the century.
This 1520 mosque (Careva Džamija) is located 250 m south-west of the tourist office on the main street, then in the first street on the left. With its 20 m-high minaret, it is dedicated to the Ottoman "emperor" (sultan) Suleiman the Magnificent. Its large dome earned it the distinction of being the most beautiful mosque in Herzegovina. However, this collapsed and was replaced in 1891 by the present small octagonal dome. The interior retains some of the original decoration.
