Zrinjevac Park
Pleasant 3-hectare park behind the Place d'Espagne. Home to a statue of Bruce Lee, a symbol of reconciliation between communities.
This 3-hectare park (Zrinjevac Park) lies behind the Place d'Espagne. It's a pleasant place, with its lawns, 300 trees and... a statue of Bruce Lee, a symbol of reconciliation between communities since 2005 (but currently under renovation). Formerly Gradski Park, created in 1953, it was renamed in 2007 in honor of Croatian viceroy Nikola Šubić Zrinski. He died as a hero against the Ottomans at Szigetvár, on the Hungarian border, on September 7, 1566, in the "battle that saved civilization", as Richelieu later put it.
