What an enchantment! Sarajevo has an irresistible charm that catches you like an oriental city. Oriental, well, almost... Because it's something else that awaits you here, an unlikely mix between Istanbul, Vienna and Chamonix. Nestled between the mountains, this small dynamic capital has fewer inhabitants than Bordeaux. But it's the only city in Europe where, after a day of skiing in the neighboring resorts, you can hear the muezzins of a hundred mosques start to sing the call to prayer at the same time. It is even more intoxicating to listen from the heights, at sunset, while sipping a mulled wine or a rakjia! Because this Muslim city is open and tolerant. Open and tolerant, it has always been. Muslim, it became so by force of circumstance, by welcoming Bosnian refugees from the rest of the country and seeing its Bosnian-Serb inhabitants leave during the last war.
